Need some help
When i start my car it will turn over idle really rough fort about 5 seconds then die
If i touch the accelerator it dies strait away
When i turn the ignition on i can here the fuel pump priming but not every time ?
If i let it prime a few times can get it running an extra second or two
No error codes
Swapped relays round no difference
Bashed Fuel tank a few times no results
If the pump is priming does this mean the pump is ok?
Or should i buy a new one and swap it over?
Any help would be great./

does the pump prime everytime the first time you try per day? its not suppose to prime everytime you turn ignition to on if the pressure is already built up....... if it doesnt prime EVERY morning id personally replace it........
Yeah seems to prime most times, also after the car dies pump can be heard priming again
How is the fuel filter? Sounds like the engine is running on the fuel prime only and once that amount of fuel is used up it dies - whereas once the engine starts the fuel pump should run and maintain pressure/supply.
It may be possible to check if this is the case by supplying +12v to the violet wire at the fuel pump - this will make it run continuously as long as connected...just do this for a test and put a 10A fuse in line if you can. If the engine then starts and runs OK then myou roughly know what is wrong.
I've also seen similar problems occur when the oil pressure switch has failed internally causing the pump to short out (it shares the same electrical circuit), so if you have a spare one throw it in.
You should not hear the pump after the car dies unless the ignition is switched off for a few minutes and then switch on again AFAIK.

Fuel filter is band new, just changed the oil pressure switch no good ;(
so i changed the fuel pump over but now it makes no noise when ignition is turned on?
Any thoughts?
cant get it started any more just cranking, had pressure in the line when i changed the pump over?
Could it be a quiet pump and an air lock?
Check if there is pressure in the line - easiest way is loosen a hose off the filter and it should squirt out. Got at least 1/4 fuel in tank?.....pump sucks from swirl pot which may not have fuel in it if under 1/4. Keep the battery fully charges as well as they like a good battery to fire.

updates: -bent a connector pin on install fixed and pump priming now (allot quieter)
-no oil light after ignition on ? was working before i changed switch?
-Only 8L in the tank
Will get some more petrol in the morning, and check the pressure after the filter and double check i haven't bent another pin on the OPS
Still hearing the pump if i turn ignition off and on (not cranking) but only for half a second, (hear it for good 2-3s after a crank)
Fingers crossed it's the swirl pot, also i read that the strainer has to be on right way round but i saw no markings, is this the case?
Thanks for all the help
Don't think the strainer is critical but maybe someone else knows. 8 litres is way too little.....usually when they run dry it takes 15-20 litres to start again. We're away to NZ tomorrow for 2 weeks so hope all gets fixed!!

Shes up and running, all it took was 5L of petrol must have been FA in the swirl pot
Thanks for all your help
