can someone please tell me what u need to loosen off to get both bolts throu housin on a vr commodore alternator doin my head in

If its anything like the VS one, you need to pull the belt tensioner out of the way. Stick a socket on the bolt for the tensioner, and push on it .. you should be able to move the tensioner. This will make the serpentine belt loose, try not to knock it off in the process. Push it far enough and hold it there for a couple secs while you stick the bolt in.. you will have clearance to slide the lower bolt in or out of the alternator mount.

you need to take belt off first of all - 18mm spanner?? i think to raise tensioner and loosen belt. then the bolts should come out easily.

remember to d/c battery before trying to remove alternator
