Default VS and VT injectors. There is a differance.

So iv been doing some research on this forum for difference. Everyone states they are exactly the same.. Well i found proof to prove them wrong. Iv gotten some flow rates and such. Also a photo comparing the nozzles. As my tune is apparently for VT injectors as requested and im running the VS ones im assuming my shitty power is due to the wrong injectors. Im only making 139.4rwkw on my VS V6. Not too happy as thats the VS injectors doing this im going to guess after this fact finding mission. So i thought i might share my findings:

    VS
    0-280-150-973
    18.65 LBS/HR
    196 CC/MIN
    141 GRAMS
    43.5 PSI
    3 BAR

    VT
    0-280-150-777
    26.35 LBS/HR
    276.9 CC/MIN
    199.2 GRAMS
    - PSI
    - BAR

VS and VT injectors. There is a differance.-imgp5235.jpg

Unless iv been completely misinformed yet again, what do you think?

Well 139 rwkw for a v6 is pretty damn good for a start. Stock VR-VS V8's would have less RWKW, so im not sure why your upset with that figure. And to be honest, If your engine is stock id put money on the fact that the dyno is a tad "happy"...

Throwing bigger injectors isn't the answer to your HP goal... I have a remapped memcal in my 5liter Ute which just pretty much just dumps more fuel in, and I decided to throw a set of injectors from a LS1 onto the fuel rail, now it ran like shit so before I removed them I thought I might just swap over the ECU as I had a spare with a stock memcal in it and it runs fairly average until about 3500rpm... After that it really starts to move....

Unless its getting the correct Air to help with the combustion of the extra fuel, its really a waste of time..

You need to help its air flow out ie: TTB, Turbo, S/Charger ect....

I have fitted these brand new injectors (the ones shown in the link below) to my VSV6, and so far Ive found them to be excellent for an outlay of around $160. Firstly I went to see a few EFI places, looking to get my old ones reconditioned etc, and I also mentioned these "cheapo" brand new injectors Id found on ebay, and a couple of the places said that they'd definitely go with the brand new ones at that price, even if they are a no name brand,as old injectors, even after being rebuilt etc, will never flow as good as brand new ones do. All they do is get them to flow similar to one another, like 1 or 2% difference of eachother, but they never flow as good as new ones do. I was also thinking about maybe getting some VT Bosch injectors, remanufactured ones for around $100 on ebay, but after talking to the EFI places, I thought Id give these brand new ones a go, and so far, Ive been heaps happy with them, and I have been recommending them to other people as a alternative to getting their old ones cleaned/ recoed etc.The EFI places around here charge around $150 to reco old injectors,so its the same cost as these brand new ones.
The biggest differences I noticed after fitting them was the car starts instantly instead of winding over a little bit first before firing up. The engine is noticably more responsive at light to mid throttle. I get better fuel economy. At the moment I can get around 280km on around $20 worth of shell 98 octane vpower fuel, this is out on the highway of course. Around town I get around 10 -12 litres /100 km. I dont drive slowly either. I do my own tunes on my VS,and after a year or two of trying heaps of different tune setups etc, I reckon Ive got it about as good as it can get it as far as getting good engine responsiveness and power, while still retaining excellent fuel economy.
The guy who sells these new injectors got them to me in 2 days, and they came with new 0-rings all ready to fit.I dont think they will last 10 years or more like the bosch ones do,but at acost of $160,who cares. just replace them again.Ive had mine in for around 8 months now and theyre still going excellent. Ive ran injetcor cleaner through it last month. I will do this every 3 months. I also change my fuel filter probably every 3 months or 5000 km, so the fuel system is kept clean...

here's the data from bosch datasheet with some conversions done. There's a 50kpa op pressure difference, but basicly there the same, the EV6 has better spray pattern, the ev6 from memory is a director plate injector which will handle keeping the flow rate the same at different operating pressures than the old ev1 pin type. The 777's can also handle a lower pulse rate down around 0.4Msec where as the ev1 starts playing up below 2.00, the better spray pattern should help atomize the fuel better and give slight reduced fuel consumption.

    Cheers for all your responses.

304runner, the car isnt stock extensive work on the intake had been done along with some head work. The1 did my tune.

Brett_jjj, Iv seen those injectors alot on ebay and have heard good things so far, just waiting for them to be used abit more often to see if ill make the switch. But i already have a set of VT injectors waiting to go in.

The1, Thanks for that, i was told slightly different. You also did my tune for the intake, as im still using the old crappy VS ones im thinking that putting the VT ones in like it was tuned for should lift its game.

I use anywhere from 6 to 9L per 100km on highway. Just depends on my mood and other peoples driving.

As other threads say, service, coils, dfi, oxys.
But i have a full mace intake system plus some extra work iv done to it, free flowing exhaust system and a good tune.
