But my car had done around 290,000ks
Will it destroy my tranny? Im not sure if it has been recond but im going to play it safe and say it has not.
Thanks.
Does your transmission feel healthy to you? If so then you should be right to put a stage 2 shiftkit in.
But if you do that, upgrade the transmission cooling system, get a trans cooler and mount it in front of the radiator if you don't have one already, heat is one of the main killers of transmissions.
I wouldn't consider it at that many k's, also consider condition of your diff and tailshaft/uni's etc

It changes fine and when i got the roadworthy they said it was in good cond for its age.
ill think ill get it checked out first.
does the corvette servo put much stress on the tranny/gearbox?
I still wouldn't, unless I knew for sure that sometime in its life it was rebuilt properly. Even then, the rest of your driveline is still quite old.

this could go 2 ways, you could put a shift kit in and it could be fine and then you could put it in and it could go boom, all trans are different you could be a granny driving way slow and never puttin the trans under stress and things could break, i say tha as when i was looking into this i asked a few trans places the same question (although i have only done 160 000 in my vs) and they said that all trans are different and that they have had vs commodores etc with bugger all k's on them that are driven buy old ladies and the sun-shell thing snaps in the gearboxes and other parts but then they have had, i guess you could say "hoons" and they haven't broken a thing
a corvette servo would be good no matter what your trans has done, there cheap and they do make a difference
i put a corvette in my vs commdore with 240 ks and it was good , wasnt to harsh but when u flor it from 1st to 2nd was a difference betweeen the shifts . it might churpp if you had really bald tires . but if you enjoy comfort your car i would recommend a corvette servo. i put mine on myself with out knowing anything much about trannns so its pretty straight forward
