hey guys, i have a 997 vs series 2 calais and today i had a bit of a check under my car and i seem to have a live axle instead of IRS
i always thought that the Calais came stock with IRS, or was it an option?
and is there much of an advantage having live axle over irs at all?
thanks in advance.
never heard of a Calais with live axle after VP. It may have been an option, but it is definitely a downgrade as far a comfort goes.
Is it actually a Calais?
yea it is a Calais, it does however say on the plate inside the engine bay that the axle code is gu4, had a bit of a search around and people reckon that it means it has live axle.. Seems odd that someone would want to choose live axle over irs though...
IRS was not an option on calais, it was standard, what is your vin number ?

I call BS....how the hell does a Calais come with Live Axle...
it wasn't an option? As far as I'm aware IRS was standard equipment.

Or someone has done the dodgy and put a rear Live Axle cradle in, maybe after an accident...... Is that even possible?
On the woodgrain strip under your radio, does it have an 'ABS/IRS' sticker?

The VZ is here! About time!
you could put live axle in a calais if you made your own mounts, but it is most certinly not a straight swap and no way worth it. i call this not a calais!
