    Default Adding wood grain trim.

    Hey guys...

I'm just curious as to what my options for adding wood grain trim to my VS Commodore are. I understand the Calais have some bits of wood grain, what would be involved in transferring those bits of wood trim onto my Commodore S. How much money am I looking at as well to do this as well, do the woodgrain bits have to come from a Calais or can I also use the trim from a Statesman/Caprice?

Also I understand there are some aftermarket woodgrain bits made as well, are they likely to be either cheaper or easier than simply swapping the wood from a Calais onto another Commodore?

The other thing I was thinking of doing is trying to find a wrecked Calais or similar, buying it outright and transferring most of the intereor across to my Commodore-how much do written off Calais tend to sell for nowadays? The only problem is that I then have a hulked wrecked car to get rid of...

I am also after the woodgrain trim. I have some for the passenger side and above the radio already. For those pieces I had to drill holes to fit it. Series 2 calais and statesmans are your best bet but they are hard to come by with the woodgrain still there. Series 3 statesmans have a different set up for the woodgrain trim but is able to be fitted with some small mods. People sell it for bullshit prices so good luck with it buddy. Check eBay from time to time.

I've actually bought some strips of pine, and plan on imitating the the fake trim with real wood. I'm also going to attempt a gear stick knob...

Be interesting to see how it turns out, maybe try a satin finish instead of the tacky high gloss finishes.

Yeah wouldn't do them glossy. A bit of a light stain... Dash trim should be relativly easy, gear knob will a bit of a challenge... If I do get around to it and its a success I'll post up some pics.
