Last week I had 2 days of fun with a VR that was giving a code 22 TPS (voltage high). It had the engine light on and the auto trans wouldnt shift gears properly. The Tech 1 couldnt shine any light onto what was actually causing it either. Tried anther second hand TPS, no different, but it was off an old engine that sits out in the weather, so the guy got a brand new one for around $50. Fitted it etc. Started out ok, no engine light, and the auto was shifting properly,so problem fixed, or so we thought.. We just pulled back up from testing it, and the engine light came on again. Check the codes ,code 22 again Grr. Checked the wiring from the TPS back through to the ECU,all good, Try another VR ECU and bingo, problem fixed. Crook ECU.

I suspected my tps was on its way out because going from P to R or D would slam into gear so I took it off had a look at it and put it back on, made it a million times worse. I had to drive to the wreckers, was driving terribly, got a second hand tps from a VT and all good, no more slamming into R or P. Seems to be shifting better too.
