Default VR V6 Geni Extractors install

Recently picked up a set of VN/VR Geni extractors with y-piece, have pulled off the old headers and have installed the passenger side extractor but cannot get the driver side extractor through? I have done some research on Justcommodores and Google and some people said to disconect the steering, so i unbolted 1 nut and slipped the steering off and now i cant steer, what else do i have to do? I just cant get the bugger through. Any help appreciated, cheers

I'm pretty sure you have to drop the steering rack, if you haven't already. You might also need to undo that extra piece on the drivers extroctor that goes around the shaft thingy. Here's the instructions from Pacemaker, should be pretty much the same. Hope it helps

"DISCONECT STEERING KNUCKLE BOLT AND RELEASE STEERING ARM FROM RACK." Is what the guide says, but never having done it myself I can't really help more than that. I think there's just like a pin that you remove and it all comes down. If you're really stuck give a suspension place a call and they'll tell you.

Underneath the car, there are two 12mm bolts (19mm heads) with nuts on them holding the steering rack to the subframe. It should be pretty obvious once you are under there

Undo the two bolts that hold the rack in and pull it back off the mounts. You have already removed the coupling fom the shaft. Turn the shaft on the rack so that the rack moves to the right as far as it can go. The RH extractor will then fit up from the bottom.

Yes, there is a nut on top of each bolt. Put a ring spanner on them from the side, they are 18mm.

Wow you are looking in the wrong place.... There two nut and bolts that hold the rack to the car. Look under the rack to find the bolts. there is one on each side. (Passanger and driver) the bolt goes through a mount where you should find the nut on the other side.

Oh and your power steering looks like it is shot.

The second lot pictures show the right bolts..

Did you remove the steering knuckle bolt that conects to the rack? also you need both front wheels off the ground so the rack can move out of the way better.

They are the correct bolts. Even the first picture is correct, just the angle looks weird. You can get a spanner on them if you come in from the wheel side.
