G'day
Well, I've sort of inherited my partner's VS Commodore with dual fuel.
It's got a couple of minor issues such as a misfire about once every 1000km for 10 seconds, and occasional rough shifting (clunk) when taking off in a relative hurry.
The question for this post is why does it make such a racket when it's cold?

A quick Google search didn't reveal anything obvious.
The noise goes away after a few minutes and is only audible from outside.
Cheers, Mike
If my car was doing that, I would replace the thermostat, then I would probably get the radiator checked to see what % it is blocked.

Sounds like the serpentine belt or the pulley bearings.
Spray some WD40 on the belt while its running, if it shuts up, its the belt
If not, remove the serpentine belt and rotate each pulley and feel for roughness, also check for side movement by moving the top and bottom
Best way to check if your pulleys are noisy is to get a long screw driver and and put the pointy end on the retaining bolt and your ear on the other while the engine is idling.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Sounds horrible - like your water pump bearings have had it.
I'm curious to hear the outcome as i get a similar sound when the car is cold but only when accelerating... and i can hear it from inside

Hi again
At this stage I'm still none the wiser.
It sounds like it's coming from the air intake area - see this updated video, note that the mic is at the bottom of this camera. (Tablet)

It's been making the same noise consistently for months. Will check with the mechanic next service.
Sounds like it has vac leak as well. does not even sound like a gurgle lol
You can take the belt off then start it for a moment with the belt removed if there is no noise then it could be one of your pulleys or you have hardly any water in your cooling system.
Also sounds like the LPG mixer is mixing liquid and gas when it should be gas only...are you starting on petrol or LPG?

Throttle stop position may not be adjusted correctly, causing the IAC to have to open to much to control the idle when cold.

Is that the tick-tick sound I hear alternating from one side of the motor to the other every 1/2 second?
The little LPG gauge near the steering wheel flashes LPG and has a solid Petrol light for the first few minutes. Once it's on LPG the LPG light stays on the and the Petrol light goes out. However, that click-click sound is present just after startup even when the indicator shows petrol as the source.
I recently had to get this little issued - perhaps it has screwed up something down the line...
At the time, the mechanic claimed it had twisted around and touched the exhaust or something like that - which seemed strange since it is sitting high and dry when I took this photo. Either someone saw it and tied it up in that state, or ....
Anyway, they taped it up, car died an hour later, they cut it and rejoined it and it's been OK since. We think![]()
