not from up that way however it is really simple.
well you may need to take the dash apart depending on how it is constructed (bench seat dash part = 4 screws =P) but.

you take the old one out. may need to cut into the detachable wiring loom.
get new loom with the cd player and match everything up.
you can either solder (and heatshrink) or use connectors.
put new cd player in and refit dash.

if your not that confident it will take like an afternoon, it really isnt that hard.
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

If you are seriously not that comfortable installing one, then $80 is a small price to pay someone to do it, and in my opinion a rather good price.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!

Good work posting the link to the How To however it might help if it was for the VS that he has as his ride instead of VX.

Try this one instead - Complete VN,VP,VR,VS,VQ,VG Headunit Guide [56k warning]

It's an excellent How To with heaps of pics to guide you.

I did mine following these instructions and it wasn't hard at all. Just took my time so I didn't stuff it up.

If someone only wants to charge you $80 though, then maybe just do that.

yeah agree on the $80 being not a bad price. if you end up not wanting to do it.

however if you do it yourself it will be a bit of fun and you can learn a few new things along the way.
once you have taken the dash apart (its not the full dash just near the cd player area)
youll remember that for aslong as you have the car =P
