If you lose or forget to replace the drive adaptor when removing/replacing the TPS it will not work.

If your battery voltage has been low at one point like below 10 volts it will bring up engine light, just because sensors won't be gettin required voltage therefore tells the ecu there is a fault, check wiring and the plugs in the circuit, Even give ya throttle body a spray and check vacuum lines, I've come across heaps of problems similar and some can just be the smallest bullshit things

what is the drive adaptor? and when i put the foot down it sort of lags/chokes then the revs go up.. would the tps be causing that?

The drive adaptor is part of the TPS and can drop off when removing/replacing the TPS....if you haven't removed the TPS it will not be a issue.
