Hey,
('95 5.0L senator, incase it matters)
just noticed today that there is something like a vaccum plug near the throttle body opening in the holden 304, and another on the opposite side.
I noticed that on both sides they were half fallen off. so i took them off and gave them a clean and put them back.
the one on the left side of the engine connects to a hose that goes to the throttle body behind the butterfly opening.
the right side one also goes to a small opening after the butterfly, but there seems to have been something didgy happen. to make it to the throttle body side of the hose (on the right vaccuum plug thing) there has been random hose and an open/close type valve.
what are the point of these? and sre they meant to be free flowing to their end, or is the right one meant to be blocked with a valve?
also what do i ask for when replacing these?
heres pics,

mate they are your breathers from your rocker covers they are ment to connect to your throttle body to recycle the oil and gases from the blow by, the one that look to be brass is wrong there both ment to look like the one thats painted the same as your rocker covers.
Holden may still sell them not sure but your best bet might be to go to a wrecker and look at a engine there to double check they didnt stuff the pipe work up as well.
You can alternativly plug the throttle body connections and run pipe from the rockers to a catch can but be careful its not legal if it vents to open air its ment to return to the throttle body but doing a well setup catch can will help stop the engine taking in all the oil from your blow by.
Have a look at some magazines or picture on here with a engine bay shot you will see most of the guys that have spent big money end up running braided hose off these and to a catch can of sorts to give you a idea.
Check out the attached explanation and diagram. Provided the valve near the throttle body is a proper PCV valve, you probably only need to seal the pipe connections to the rocker covers with some high temperature sealant and you should be OK.
