304 problem

hey guys, sorry if it has been covered before, but i have a vr ute with the 304 in it. the problem is it stalls when i put it in drive or reverse. it starts first time, idles fine, even if you rev it past two or three grand an put it in gear, it simply stops. starts fine immeadiatley afterwards tho. any help would be much appreciated.

When you say it starts fine immediately afterwards, do you mean that then it doesn't stall when you subsequently put it into drive or reverse? Does this happen when the engine is cold as well as hot?

it will keep stalling, if i pump the pedal a heap, it sort of stays alive but not for very long. it happens both cold an hot
