hey. Ive had my vs senator at a mechanic for 4 months at this point here is the issue.
Basicly there is power to the coil and you have trigger pulse from the distributer with a test light until you actually hook it to the coil then you get nothing the test light just stays on no pulse.
At this point all the components work on other cars ive had a new computer new hall effect sensor new ignition module and new coil
the immobaliser is now removed as we thought that could be the problem but its still doing the same thing.
Any help would be great i had the car and drove it for 2 weeks and like i said its been off the road 4 months at this point its so frustraiting
Wow, four months at the mechanic - hope he is not charging you for parking !!! Has someone checked to see if any error codes have been set in the PCM? Have you tried a new distributor cap, rotor button and distributor -> coil lead. According to the maintenance CD the ignition process is:
Ignition Module
The ignition module, mounted separately in the engine compartment, provides an interface between the Hall switch in the distributor, the ECM/PCM, and the ignition coil. The ignition module processes the Hall switch reference pulses sending the signal to the ECM/PCM as a crankshaft reference input signal. The ECM/PCM calculates the needed spark advance and dwell time, and sends EST output pulses back to the ignition module. The module triggers the ignition coil based on these EST pulses sent from the ECM/PCM. If the ECM/PCM detects a problem in the EST circuits or for some reason cannot control the ignition system, the module is independently capable of operating the ignition system, with a fixed 10 degrees BTDC spark advance.
Was the immobilizer removed fully. Cause from experience the iss system is a pain.
4 months and still cant find the problem. I think the problem lies in the workshop rather than the car!
crank angle censor? has he tryed a new one? i pretty shore if this fails you will not have spark on cranking because the engine doesnt no what position/cycle/stroke the motor is in, just a thort
we have had 2 places bring down test equiptment one time we got no error codes the other time said computer was bad that was replaced after we got that with no differance.
The iss is fully taken out. It behaves the same as when you have used the tag so im pretty sure thats not the problem.
holden 5l doesnt have a crank angle sensor it just has a hall effect sensor in the distributor cap which has been replaced once again no differance
its booked into another shop next monday so i hope if its not fixed by then they will have a better idea
its really stupid it has trigger pulse until you hook up the coil then nothing it just makes no sence
the closest we got it was it would spark 1 time when you just hooked the distributor up then wouldnt spark again until you took it off and hooked it up again. Its not even doing this now
I know you said that the coil has been replaced, but I'd say you have a faulty coil on your hands.
