    Default Vs help !

    I have just purchased some VE SS wheels (standed 19's) for my Vs

    I had some minor problems getting the on the rear but there on and running but the fronts a little harder the wheels hit the suspension tower

    Has anyone had a problem with bigger wheels and how did you fix it ??

    Any help would be great

    Would wheel spacers help?

    Is it hitting the inside or the top of the tyre?

    Inside = spacers.

    Top = coilovers.

    You Cannot fit wheel spacers unless they were fitted from factory i believe, They are illegal in any case if fitted after market. let alone dangerous. So dont risk that idea. and if found you have them it will void car insurance if involved in a crash :S

    As for the size of the tyre, im sure the VS standard can only handle 235 wide, and im guessing your 19s are 245 wide

    I had this problem with my WH Statesman. The tyre profile is too big, need to go lower profile.

    I had 245/40R19 (Bridgestone Potenza), original tyres from a VE Commodore, and it just kept rubbing on the strut tower. Plus the car felt down on power and it used more fuel because the wheel/tyre diameter was bigger. So I changed the tyres to 235/35R19 and haven't had a problem since.

    Yeah +1 to that about wheel spacers dals. A guy I know had his R33 GTST with spacers on it which didn't leave enough thread on the hub bolts for the nut to grip the wheels. End result his rear left wheel came off at 80km/h going down a hill. Car ground to a halt, destroying the diff housing, rear suspension arm and the exhaust, then he still had to jump out and chase the wheel down the hill .

    Have the rims been machined to suit?
    If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!

    I have the same rims on my VS. had to have the center machined to fit the hub, but after that they went straight on.

    Gosh, go out and grab 5 x5mm washers for each front wheel and place them on the studs then place the wheel on... Fixed!
