Hey all.... Just wanting to know how accurate are the distance to empty meters? And if they arent exact is there a way to calibrate it so it is?.
Thanks for any advice...
not very accurate, they are more for giving you a rough idea of how far you could go before running out of fuel.
Ok cool. Thanks mate.... Mine said 110 till empty but then the gauge rwad empty and I ran out haha. Had to get a tow 30ks into town.. F*#king thing lol
Calibration is the same as for the VN Calais

Yeah. Mine said I had like 110 to go bur it was completely empty... Looked at tgat link but it looks to complecated to calibrate haha
If you run full tank of fuel every week - just take note of the pump Lts and the tank Lts used - post up here and we can tell you what the numbers need to be.
The default numbers are 625 for distance and fuel flow (often reset by nasty car sellers to show good fuel ecconomy) With ign on press and hold the set button for 3 secs in each of the 3 modes and record the numbers.

I believe it's a good way to gauge fuel usage and deter heavy acceleration, as the DTE fluctuates as you drive, basically telling you, for example, if you've filled up and keep flooring it off the mark or to get up to speed you will get say 250k's to empty, if you correct that style of driving, half an hour or so later it will have changed to something more reasonable like 400 - 450 till empty. Does that make sense? Thats what mine does anyway!

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
The trip computer updates every 2 mins - so the longer you drive without resetting the more stable it gets. If you reset every tank full then it will jump around a little (bit like the 1 day cricket score graphs - smooth out to a more or less flat line that = the run rate).
When the car gets to less the 50kms to empty it starts to update every 30 seconds.

Hmm ok... At the moment it says 570 till empty with half a tank on the gauge... Dont think thats right haha

Hahahaha it sure is mate.... I want to get it as close to accurate as possible. But it seems to complicated....
Current numbers on my dash are trip time 2.34....fuel used 12.78l...... Dist trav 136.1km..... Avg speed 53.0..... Fuel avg 9.3 l/100km..... Thats since last reset.... Tank gauge is completly full withit just over the f.... And dist to empty is currently reading 940.... I know that aint right haha... Any way of making it more exact (simply for us dumb folk) please?...
Press and hold the set button for 3 secs with the Ign on. While holding the the set button tap the up or down button to adjust to 625 for factory default setting. Do this for the distance and fuel flow.
The other mode is the fuel remaining in the tank. So the 60 and 80 switch on the bottom of the cluster sets the base numbers to work from and you adjust it up or down the same way. Needs to be done on level ground too.
See how it goes once the factory defaul setting are done.

Its an 80l tank mate... Do I need to change it to that on the cluster
Unsure of what it is set to tge 60 or 80... How do I check?
There is a switch on the back of the cluster.

Does that mean I have to take the cluster out?
If it's an 80 Lt tank then it should be OK - unless the cluster has been changed at some point.
I found with my wagon (68 lt tank) that if I had it set to 80 it would give silly high readings with the DTE. I dont think that will be it for you tho if it's the original cluster in the car.
