Automatic Shifter Movement

Hey guys,
My VR has asome shifter play/movement no matter what gear is selected. The shifter can be moved slighty up and down and dosent feel tight. The gearbox is still strong, it has never slipped or caused any grief.

Any ideas?

I wouldnt stress mate. All my commodores have done that. With no problems.

Does it move from drive to reverse by just pushing it?

Nope it dosent move out of the gear at all (apart from the usual factory movements you can do without using the lever for eg netrul to drive). But while in the gear it dose have lots of play, to the point where you cant see the shifter light on the gear shifter.

dont stress mate, its normal, both my old VP 5ltr and my VS SS do it

It annoys me lol Anyway of fixing this so its tighter?

Replace the shifter, its riveted to the chasis under the console/ carpet. I'm planning on doing this swap on mine when i feel like pulling the console out...

Mine is firm, not bad considering the amount of k's it has haha

yeah mine has 360000 but still going strong.... Got it at 358000 haha
