    Default Auto transmission

Has anyone added an oil cooler to their transmission? If so how did it go?

As these transmissions run fairly hot, any extra cooling can only be a good thing.

IIRC these were added ex factory from series II????

I didn't know they came standard. Mine is a series 1 and does not have one, as my mechanic is adding one for me. He's doing it FOC in addition to servicing my transmission.

Normally they get added when you do towing....

I just pulled one out of a donar car. will be putting it in when I swap over the bumpers soon.

From the factory the series 1 VS had the trans cooler located in the radiator tank....series 2 VS had the same but added an external cooler to the front of the radiator.

Cheers for the info guys, so basically mine will now have the same set up as the sries 2 i guess. Does it make any noticable difference in transmission performance? Smoother shifts etc...?

no only cools the oil as when you tow it places additional loads on the auto creating more heat and heat kills auto's

A shift kit and different servo's etc will effect how the auto shifts

So I just picked up my car, all seems ok, transmission serviced. My mechanic disconnected the cooling lines from the radiator and they are running soley through the new oil cooler. Is this ok? Don't know much about transmissions and the cooling of...
