1993 vr v6 t5 gearbox problem

i just picked up a vr wagon cheap a week ago now today when i change into 3rd gear and 4th it grinds the gears like i have not put the clutch in.

most likely the synchros on 3rd and 4th. try double clutching, itll help a bit. but its not recommended to double clutch on a gearbox with synchros because youll just wear out your clutch quicker. its a problem which is only going to get worse and worse and eventually your going to have to pull off your gearbox and get to work

ok, so i should look for another box. would the box do this if the wrong oil was put in aswel

yea i'd be keeping my eye out for a new box. pulling apart a box just to change a synchro is a messy and time consuming job. but make sure the box you buy hasnt got the same problem.
if you put the wrong oil in then your going to cause some premature wear. just look at a gregorys and see what oil is meant to go in
