    Default Vibration at 80-90kpmh

    Hi All

I have an odd fault with my 96 VS I Equipe,

everytime I power up to 80kmph and above, the car vibrates like a bitch

but as soon as I flick it in to 3rd gear the Vibration goes,

I have checked out a couple of posts, people say it could be the the torque converter

the car only have 147000kms on it, is this common? and would anyone know that is potentially is the torque converter

Before you blame the transmission, there is a documented fault on this forum where the ignition has caused this problem - usually a bad coil or plugs/leads and it comes in at about 80kph which is also around the speed where the torque converter clutch locks up. This is also the speed where the fuel mixture leans out and this leaning of the mixture requires the best spark available to fire this lean mixture....if a coil/plug/leads are suspect they can break down and cause this miss. When you flick it back to 3rd the revs rise and the fuel mix is richer and fires more easily.
If all these are 100% then it could be transmission - the TCC can cause this as well. Hopefully it is just a bad coil. Good Luck.

Hako, you are a champion, always in there to share your knowledge,

I was thinking of changing the Leads and Coils anyway,

wish me luck with it, and I hope this is the case

    thanks
