Hi all,
My VR Berlina has recently developed an unusual vibration when accelating up hills from low revs. This vibration stops when the transmission (eventually) steps back a gear and revs are above 2500rpm. This can happen at any speed, but most commonly when I'm doing around 100kmh accelerating up a hill (it doesnt even have to be all that steep).
The vibration does feel as though its coming from the rear of the car, but it's quite difficult to tell.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I have had a variation of different opinions; diff, tailshaft out of balance (unlikely!), engine mounts are a bit off.
Any help is appreciated!

hey mate...
hard to say but i would have guessed diff, or tailshaft .. have u had it looked at?? i have a vs ute and it did do a similar thing but stoped after awhile and this was bout a year ago... i never got it looked at but word around said diff.. but it is bazar becuse i didnt do anything about it and it stoped.. id probly get it looked at just to be safe haha
I would be looking at engine and gearbox mounts.
hey mate i had a vs and it started to shutter then the vibration started, it ended up being the tail sharft bearing in the center where it bolts to the car the rubber in there had failed also and started slaping around in the bracket id check it out the more you put the foot down the worse it was or dropped back a gear got a S/H tail sharft for $25
I have exactly the same problem. It sounds like something with the trans/diff. I will have a look at the shaft.
I have the same problem too....car vibrates between 1700-2000RPM in 3rd (which is annoying because in PWR mode thats my 60km/h cruising revs) (if I go into 4th its alot better)
It gets to the point where I can see the auto shifter wobbling backwards and forwards with the vibrations :P
I installed a new transmission last weekend so the tailshaft had to come out, I also put new exhaust hangers on while the exhaust was off and that seems to have made a big difference but its still there.

need to find out if its kph or rpm related.
kph: could be tyres, rims, wheel bearings..
rpm: could be drive shaft, engine/auto mounts, cv joints, center bearing, uni joints.
did anyone find out what this was?
Mine seems to be occuring around 60-70km/h
