VR Problem

i have a 95 model Vr commodore over the last 12 months this problem has gotten worse when i start the car it will start fine and idle fine for a minute than it will idle really rough i can turn the car off than back on again and it will idle fine i can than go driving around but if i stop at idle speed for to long like in maccers drive thru on a busy day the car will start idling really rough again if i turn the car off than back on again it idles fine now this problem is at the point where its happening pretty much every time i drive the car what could this be? i have also just noticed in the last few days while driving on a highway doing 100 it sometimes has a surge but the engine kicks back in and keeps going

I would check the fuel filter first, but it does sound like the pump is on it's way out.

Can you do an error code check?

thanks for the help i just checked the error code and im getting 12 which is every things normal i have a new filter i havent installed should i order a fuel pump as well or just try the filter first?

Filters are cheap and need regular replacement.
