ive seen a few vr's around with there headlights blasckened just wondering how to do that because it looks sick as
Black headlights dont seem just a little counterproductive to you?
As said above, illegal and counterproductive, you won't see a thing at night.
If you really want the black look to your headlights, buy headlight covers/protectors then use nightshade on those. I'd recommend taking them off when driving, especially at night.

chuck some clearcoat into ur spraygun, and add a couple of drops of black, this is the simple'st way to do it.. keep spraying till it is dark enough for your liking..
Not sure about Aust, but in NZ it is legal as long as the glow can be seen 100m in day light.
ill try get a pic for you..

Are the dark/colourless VS taillights legal?
And what about darkened taillights? Saw a VY or VZ with dark ones.
I recall reading the clear ones are legal but obviously require coloured globes. As I've mentioned in previous threads my tailights are tinted and I've never encountered any problems with them as the brake/ blinkers are very visable during the day and even had 2 people run up my arse and brake light visability was not the issue, as well as having many cops over the years sit behind me. Most will say it's illegal. The VHT brand states on the can (to obviously avoid legalities relating to people who completely black out their lights) it's for off road use only.

Holden VN VP Commodore Clear Altezza Smoked Tail Lights | eBay
Those VN/VP Altezza lights may be illegal, as I hear the reflector part is meant to be red, if not, they are legal, as long as you use the correct coloured bulbs. I'm not a fan of how they look though.
yes you need to have a red reflector somewhere on the rear of your car it doesnt have to be taillights but thats where they are mainly found. so if you dont have a red reflecter somewhere on the back of your car then thats illegal but im pretty sure no one will pick up on it tbh
Clear lights are illegal, because all tail lights in Australia must incorporate a red reflector and the clear aftermarket ones you are talking about dont have one. Its not just reflectors at the back of the car, they must be part of the light. Of course you can have extra reflectors too if you want.
The actual light part would be legal, provided you have correctly coloured globes, but some part of the light body must include a red reflector. Its a shame, I think the clear ones would suit my car but que sera sera.
Standard tail lights are a bit dim, but can be much brighter if you add LED globes. Make sure you choose yellow and red globes though, clear LEDs behind red lenses look pink.
altezzas on VNs..............................................= wankr look
black headlights............ kind of defeats the purpose doesnt it? Definately makes it look sick as.
Wait.. the road? or the person you just hit because your darkened headlights didnt illuminate the road up enough?
Maybe if your want to add some black to your head lights try to do something like VY SS headlights-

about the red reflector subject i have on my VR calais lights and they are both clear reflectors and have also seen acclaim's that have clear reflectors..
You dont tint the headlights, you tint headlight covers.
Roll with them on during the day, take them off at night.
Best way is to use this shit. eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d
It is bit thicker than regular tint, is easy to work and you can cut out any shapes with a blade once its on and just peel it off. I've had it on my car for years, protects lenses too. The best thing compared to those shitty looking marker or spray jobs is, that when your lights do come on, they still shine through just as bright, specially the rears. It's actually better, I reckon all cars should have tinted tail lights, stop reflection and no being able to see indicators sometimes etc. Just do what I did to head lights (look in my pics) it barely decreases head lights, specially if you run xenons and looks alot meaner

yeah i dont like the clear taillights much myself i kinda regret getting them i should of just got normal ones.. and dont hang shit cause i was just asking if they were illegal
How do the VX's get away with having their reflectors where they have them? Mounted right down low, nowhere near the lights. I'm sure I've also seen a few other vehicles, mainly 4x4's that I can think of that have their reflectors seperate to the main light-are they allowed to be like that so the reflector isn't mounted so high?
^ it doesnt have to be part of the light, it just needs to be in practical spot on the rear of the car.
