hey everyone,
ive got a vr commodore II auto, recently it has stopped changing into any gears 3rd 2nd and 1st lags heaps like no power at all, the reverse was the first to go ive been told it might be the torque converter? anyone have any better i deas is the gearbox completely ####ed or what? it an auto. cheers.
could be limp home mode do you have to change the gears manually?
Welcome to the forum.
If reverse has gone and you are now in limp home mode it is probably the sunshell that has sheared - this is terminal unfortunately - it's happened twice to me as recent as a week ago. It 'may' drive for a km or so till the innards of the box jam up. ...maybe longer. I fitted a 2nd hand box from a wrecker for $550 - alternative was a reco from trans specialists at $2100. You could take it to a trans spec for verification. See attached file:4l60e Problems and Solutions - S-10 Forum Not good news in the month of Xmas.

The same thing happened to my commo, i didnt bother researching what was wrong with it and just sent it away to get the box overhauled. Although the guy said that all my cluchers and torque converter were rooted just due to old age and years of use. It set me back $1000 for the overhaul including corvette servo piston.
