Hi guys, i have a commodore vr v6 3.8 auto. Recently got the motor reconditioned and while apart threw in a stage 3 crow cam kit. My mechanic also shaved 1mm off the heads. I had a full exhaust system consisting of pacemaker extractors and a 2 1/2 inch straight through But I recently got defected and to pass the EPA test changed my exhaust back to standard but left my pacemakers on. The people at crow cams i talked to told me the best system for my cam is a twin 2.25" exhaust with twin cats. I was just wondering cause am tight with money at the moment if a 3" exhaust straight through with a hi flow muffler will work on my setup or will i lose power? Thanks for your help. Sorry for the long post.
I also have 3.91 gears, not that it will make a difference to what exhaust i need.![]()
reconditioned motor and a 3 crow cam kit. My mechanic also shaved 1mm off the heads. hey mate just wanna know how much did that set u back and can u notice the power diffrence as is it worth getting ???
i have done exaclty the same thing to my calais, i went to a exhaust dealer and he said the twin system may be a little to much and he said he would evan try a 3 inch unless he was doing nothing but high driving. i chose pace maker extractors twin cats then into a single 2.5inch over the diff.which is what i got told from my crow dealer, seems to be alright. but i do like the sounds of twin exhausts, i think you a better of asking someone that deals with those cams.
QIK51X - wouldnt it have just been easier instead of changing back to standard exhaust was to get a ressy on it, i havent really heard people of doing the way that ur thinking of doing on a 6 most people i know just prefer to put ressy on since its cheaper and easier, my old car i didnt even have a cam on the motor i had just pacemaker extractors (comps) and a 2.5inch exhaust system, it was that loud it sure was over the limit easy but since i have a new car and was giving my old car to my bro i had to put a ressy on it didnt want him to get a notice even when i didnt have the new cat and extractors fitted to the car i was just under the limit damn work didnt give me a car that day.
Just thought id point out that this thread was posted 10 months ago and the users last activity was 4 months ago, so i think he has done his exhaust by now....
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.

hey qik51x ive got a 3" catback on my v6 ecotec, brought it of someone with a ss for 100 bucks. i could feel slight power upgrade.my other m8 has a vn with the buick motor with stainless extractors and mild steel 3"straight through cost him 850 bucks.he says its too loud and waste of money.
hi mate
you said you have 3.9.1 gears in yor VR how does it run with them in it do you loose a lot of top speed with high gears on a V6 tahnks mate.
