    Compucam H276

    214/214 .464 .464
    276/276
    110 LSA

    BASIC RPM 2200-5500
    Compucam H284

    222/222 .480 .480

They seem ok but I think this camtech grind would work really well 222/222 112 LSA .511" .511
it has the same duration as the 284 but more lift

Doesn't really matter if you get diff gears or not. It just brings the cams powerband on quicker

    What Gearbox A4 or M5?

So you'll need a clutch upgrade..... eventually

what series? cause if its series III its gonna change your cam options as its the later 'roller block'

Depends so much on what else you plan to do with the motor, and what you are using it for. Highway cruising, running kids to school or drag racing and speedway? There are heaps of different grinds to go for. Do it once and do it right. A lot of bigger cams need different diff ratios, higher compression ratios, stronger valve springs etc to be effective.

Crane cams now do roller lifters to fit into pre VT non-roller blocks, allowing you to consider the option of going with a roller cam (allows the cam to be more agressive in its shape, giving bigger valve lift with shorter duration).

Have a good look at Greenfoams cam selection thread, it is a sticky under V8 Development forum on Just Commodores.

Personally I have a Wade 963A961A10 in my 5L. Great fun for everyday driving and good fuel economy, but not suited to higher revs. Works well with the std intake manifold, std valve springs, std compression and torque converter.

Performance wise it is probably about the equivilent of a HSV 185i or maybe a little better. Goes from about 2000 RPM to 4500RPM very quickly and easily, but then the show is over. Still has plenty of low down torque, which is something that disappears as cams get bigger. I should add that I also have a full 2.5" twin exhaust, 70mm throttle body, K&N, CAI, Roller rockers, and a tune from Greenfoam.

If I was to do it again, I would probably up the compression ratio by shaving the heads, put a dual plane intake and quad throttle body, bigger stall convertor, stronger valve springs and put in a more aggressive roller cam setup. But I'm just talking s*$%t now.

surely its gotta go better than that?? 185 is just intake/xhaust and ecu mods from factory
