hi all i have had this 5ltr VR now for about 3 weeks and for some reason it just wont go. it seems very intermitan ie jumped in went to the servo about 1km away, droped in $20 and it wouldnt start. i had to push the thing in a car bay tried to start it again and it went. Got home and a few hours later Mrs went to go out and no dice its been sitting ever since. shame when its going it goes well.
it has a strong spark and fuel to the injectors
i have replaced the ECU (not the memcal)
changed out the ignition module
new leads
new plugs
no error codes (other than 12)
i am at a loss any help would be great

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
My fuel pump was doing similar things after i ran it dry, car starts when cold but hard or impossible to start after a run sometimes.
New pump, no problems.
If it won't turn over check your battery, earth, starter motor and alternator connections. How old is your battery - some of them will provide less power when warm. Likewise, an old starter motor will have increased resistance when hot and find it harder to turn the motor over.
sounds like a dizzy problem, I have seen them when they still have spark and no injector pulse. using a scope the dizzy wasnt switching to ground but to 2volts enough to trigger spark. hope this helps
if its turning over fine. then this sounds like a classic stuffed fuel pump scenario. change it out to find out.
I've just been through the same thing with my 5L VS.
Replaced the fuel pump - no luck
Replaced the ignition coil - still no luck
Replaced the distributor - bingo!
Fuel pumps and ignition coils generally die, and that's it. The distributor just comes a goes and gets worse over time. Mine was always worse when the engine got hot.
Get a multi-meter onto it when it is not going. At the plug that goes into the ignition module test the wires come to it from the distributor, from memory red should be 12v, brown -12v and the white one with a stripe is the sensor input and should be about 4.5v.
Good luck, I rode my pushy for weeks before I got mine sorted.
cheers all i finaly found the problemthere is a clip holding the the plug for the sensor inside the dizzi the thing had broken and was bouncing around in there getting into the sensors way. also the wires as they are feeding out of the distributor had gotten hot and were intimitantly earthing out. i have replaced the dissi altogether (whoever put it at the back should be shot) cheers for the help
