i have a 5 speed vr wagon i went for a drive today see christmas lights went for 50k drive stoped the car strted it was fine went down the road it conked out had to rev to keep idle up then mate was behind me it blew bit black smoke so at lights it just wanted to dies cos its a manual i kept revs up its giving me the shts can anyone help also while i got on highway had slight jerk got home and it was idleing fine like nufin was wrong very wierd
sounds like their may be a problem with your electronics. the same thing happened to mine a while ago and the problem was that a main power cable was shorting out on from rubbing on the earth lead. Although that was my problem, yours could be something very different. Once i taped up the lead it ran like a dream. someone else may have more ideas.
also before that engine light was coming on llike on and of but i seemed of fixed the engine light did coil and dfi also did spark plugs leads but does anyone no what the go is with the above post

mite add it only does it after a drive has a fit then comes back to normal
maybe an injector might be blocked, try puttin some injector cleaner thru it and see wat that does
yer mate trying that today the thing is it fdrives great then after a long drive it has a fit rough running blowing bit black smoke and wont idle unless i keep revs up then comes good and drives good again only does it long drives short drives drives a1
If its blowing black smoke and running crook, but then comes good again, then it could also be contaminated fuel (water in the fuel tank) causing it. Depending on how much moisture is in the tank, you can add some metho to the fuel tank, about a cup full of metho to half a tank of fuel. The metho lets any the water that might be in the fuel tank, actually mix with the fuel so it can then be consumed in the combustion process as the engine runs. Id also change the fuel filter.
oh yer wen it comes rite its really fumy smells bad just wen misus went to sevro i was in car she came out and said its really fumy thats was wen it finished having its fit and stays fumy until a bit of a drive im trying to give much detail as i can

ok did error codes 22,23,26,33 i hope i did it rite i did this if im coorrect just say it flashed three times the another 3 thats code 33 ?if thats rite all above is correct so what does this mean help please

Code 22 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) low voltage
Code 23 - Mass Air Temp Sensor (MAT)
Code 26 - Mass Air Temp Sensor (MAT) unstable voltage
Code 33 - Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) high voltage
ok how do i fix?just replace the sensore or ?
I would replace the TPS and the MAP sensor. The MAT is the one that is plugged into the air filter box providing you have not put a pod filter on...
i did map sensor then reset computer all seems well atm but i dont have a plug or anything on the airfilter box for the mat sensor its 1993 model vr mite not have one ?and as for the tps sensor is it alan keys cos star shape screw driver or flathead wont fit on it ?cheers but touch wood all good so far
