    Question waterpump

just wondering how long do water pumps last on vs 5l,
ive owned the car around a year now and have receipts from the previous owner
he changed it around 3 years ago.

im about to do a flush on the cooling system as its coming into summer and i use the car for towing i dont need it overheating.

just wondering if it is not going to last that long ill replace it now rather than later?

    cheers

You could change it for piece of mind, but in my experience they last as long as they last. Not really a set time. I've only done 2 on all the cars I've owned over the last 14 years or so. Maybe I'm just lucky haha

I agree with Hangman - some last 1 year and others go 10 years even when they are the same brand. Just luck of the draw.

As long as the coolant is in good condition the water pump should last a few years. As has been said, replace it when it breaks. As to how long it will last? How long is a piece of string.

ok thanks guys ill leave it for now i realised today why it was the viscous fan that is causing it to heat up slightly so replace it tomorrow and do a flush and it should be sweet!
