quick question can anyone suggest how to sound deaden a ute from the cabin area to the fuel tank area
ive thought about the dynamat type of stuff but where it goes there is no carpet. just metal so would that mean adding carpet (with velcro) myself?
even after getting a new fuel pump put in i can hear a high pitched noise.
(sounds the same as though the pump is priming, so it sounds like normal operation)
its more of an annoying noise and i just want it gone as the pump/tank is right behind where you sit.
also side questions.
with the drivers door actuator which wires going to it are the power suppliers?
i read another thread and it said red/black yellow/black. is this correct?
im getting no power to actuator. but signals are fine so its a broken power cable (internal copper) so over the holidays i want to run a new wire.
also What Gauge/size Wire is this? 1mm?
with a Vs dash, i got a new fascia. so obviously going to pop out all the old parts and put into new one and refit but...
ok its got next to the centre air outlets this box thing and what looks like a coin holder (tbh its useless)
does that square plastic part come out or is it "plastic welded" in?
i know ill find this out for sure on sunday when i replace it but if i know ahead it would be awesome
thanks
Could you put the dynamat on the outside of the cab? I was thinking that you could lift up the lid where the fuel tank is and clean up the outside of the cabin and place the dynamat there. Just a suggestion, not sure if its possible or not.
With that plastic coin holder on the facia, you might be able to just unclip it from the back, if not, then just use a stanley knife and carefully cut around the outline of it. Are you going to fit the speed alert or trip computer in place of it?

na im just going to keep the coin holder...
my speedo is out anyway so it would be going off its rocker at me speeding when im doing under the limit (8% out btw)
but thanks for the advice.
ill see if i can fit it where the tank is.
but could it be a flammable hazard?
I don't think it would be a flammable hazard, if I had a ute thats where I would be putting the dynamat. I have installed dynamat all though my VS and its made a big difference to the sound of the stereo and less road noise/wind noise. Some cars have something similar to dynamat on the fuel tank itself where the exhaust runs near it.
I am 100% confident that it will be fine![]()

yeah i think ive seen that dynamat like thing in there.
was wondering what it was for =P
just hope i dont have to remove the entire tank to mat it up though.
are there any other brands other then dynamat that could be used?
or is that the only one around/wortwhile using?
Yeah its just to protect the fuel tank from getting too hot from the exhaust system.
There are other cheaper brands you can get but everyone has told me that I may as well spend the extra and get Dynamat, so thats what I did. Plus you get heaps more then you would buying a different brand, so in the end the price would be about the same anyway.

Hey mate with the back wall on the ute you can sound deaden it and put some new carpet over the top, have a look at my thread I put new carpet over the firewall in my ute an it came out great
You know there is other versions of dynamat besides just the tar stuff...
