vs 5ltr gearbox whine, help!
hi guys, my gearbox (getrag) has a pritty bad whine , the only time it dosent whine is when the cluch is pressed in. would this be my throwout bearing? cheers for your help.

Yeah, sounds like you have a spent throw out bearing... Shit of a job to do, might as well put a new clutch in if you can afford it.

It could be the gearbox input shaft bearing that is noisy especially if it is also present in neutral. Throwout bearing should make a noise when clutch is pressed in if it's bad - when out it is not moving. Maybe the oil needs changing or is low....heard there are some good treatments to stop a whine but if the bearing(s) are worn they will eventually fail. I note you say whining and not grinding so hopefully it ain't major.

yeah there is just a whine, no grinding, and yep its there as soon as i start car up, so in neutral it whines too, if i put the clutch in it stops whineing. sounds like a gilmore drive?
