my parents have just bought me a VR Commodore as my 18th birthday present and its only the 3rd time i have driven it we were only driving for about 5 minutes and all of a sudden no power at all. tried to start it sounded like it wanted to start but wouldnt then my step dad fiddled with something in the fuse and electrical centre and now nothing at all when u try to start it. can anyone give me an idea of what it may be please?
First thing to check would be your fuel pump mate. Get somebody to jump in and turn the key to "Reds" while you listen at the back of the car below where the filler cap is.. Basically just stick your head near your rear tyre.. Once the key hits reds, you should hear a high-pitched whirr that lasts for a brief moment (Depending on your definition of time).
If that noise is not present, then I am guessing you have killed your fuel pump.. This is usually caused by either running the tank dry too often or dirty fuel.
Not sure what you mean when you say 'power' but I'd say check your battery leads, jiggle them around abit and tighten if needed. check out your fuses in your engine bay one by one seeing if maybe one has blown and report back? :P
Welcome to the forum - if you want to save $$$$ and learn how to do your own maintenance you are at the right place.
You should also see if there are any error codes logged - all you need is a paper clip and the instructions: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
Good Luck.

Engine still cranks but won't start?
An engine needs three things to start; ignition (at the right time), fuel and compression.
Check ignition by pulling a spark plug and checking for a spark when cranking, check for fuel by a wet-with-fuel plug after cranking.
Unless something went bang, compression will be fine.
The initial fault sounds like your crank angle sensor is dying, sits in behind the harmonic balance. I believe this is a fairly common fault. Not sure what your step dad may have done though.
Would say its the sensor mine kept doin it in bad traffic its not to costly an easy as to do yourself.changed mine ova 2 months ago an not a prob since
