i just brought a jp high volume oil pump for a vr v8, there was a notification inside the box to use a z30 oil filter only.
i think this is the old big type for 253-308 filter, iam just wondering why they recommend this?
Possibly the small type can restrict or burst with the higher volumes??
down side to this is:
I just brought a filter pack i no longer can use i.e z160 type.
Is a high volume pump going to put strain on the components on an engine with 180000klms??
Would i be better off with the standard jp pump??
Your thoughts on this before i go ahead and fit it![]()
Yes, better of with standard JP oil pump. The general consensus is that high volume flood the top end, they pump too much oil and it cant drain back to the sump quick enough.
If installing it yourself pack the pump dont worry about that it says not too. It's garaunteed to work straight away, getting oil pressusre straight away is essential

They also put a lot of extra load on the engine & consume power
standard one is on its way. cheers
