Hey guys got a vs and recently the transmisson has been acting bit strange,

when going on a drive for an hour or so the engine light comes on for a secong and then after that if i go to accelerate its really slow and doesnt drop down any gears, and also if i slow right down to a stop if i take off again it wont rev past 3000rpm, but if iturn the car off and on again problem goes away.

any ideas what it could be??
