my vr auto has a vibration in it ,when i start it ,driving along while i accelerate it almost shakes the car to bits i have checked a majority of stuff under the car
but i still carnt find the problem i thought it might be the harmonic balance but all it has is a small splits around the center does nt seem to be enough to effect it
has anyone got any suggestions what it might be.
If the harmonic balancer has splits as you suggest I'd get it replaced soon.....the splits are a warning that it is on it's last legs. The HB will not be causing the vibration.
Re the vibration, Commodores do vibrate a bit under harsh acceleration and many new owners comment about this. There may be worn components in the drive train which you need to check one by one.

Possibly the bearing in the back of your trans, where the tailshaft goes in. I've seen a few cars shudder under load when these are on their way out.
tail shaft center bearing possibly but it will be more obvious under acceleration or maybe a uni joint in the tail shaft may have seized
