Hi all,
I have just been reading a bit around the forums and I think that my inlet manifold gasket might need changing. Symptoms are:
- lots of steam (more than all other cars) coming out of the exhaust even when the engine is warm (can be seen at night)
- coolant keeps disappearing without any apparent leaks (both oil and coolant are clean so it shouldn't be the head gasket)
In addition to this, the car has dual fuel and sometimes backfires on LPG (probably unrelated to inlet manifold gasket).
So does it seems like inlet manifold gasket? Could it be something else? I have noticed a drop in performance slowly over the last couple of years... could this be a symptom of inlet manifold leak?
it's a common problem, is it steam coming from the exhaust or smoke? If smoke what colour.
Typically you will get oil in your coolant with inlet manifold as the high pressure cooling system cools it will suck in oil through the bad gasket, it could be through the intake manifold part though if there's steam, i would first check your spark plugs and see if one cylinder is burning different than the rest. If unsure get a compression test done to help rule out head gaskets
