    Post My SS won't start

Help needed urgent.... My vr SS won't start, started fine 2 days ago then tried to start it but didn't crank over... All lights on dash come up but as soon as I turn the key nothing.. Ive changed the battery cables, leads and plugs brand new battery. I can start it from the starter but I believe that I have a wire missing from the starter as the one there is hooked up to the battery. I checked underneath were the gearbox and found a plug that fell apart off the gearbox.. Have a feeling it might be the key and key barrel.. Need help ASAP as I want my baby going it's a 355 stoker and I love it when I woke the neighbors up at 4 30 every morning help will be much appreciated...

Does it make a clicking noise from the starter then you try to start it? if so it's your starter, make sure the terminals are tight. and if you believe your missing a wire, it might be a wire you need, but if you had it started 2 days ago.. might be the terminals bad..

Yeah it makes a clicking noise, I have the battery connected and a wire that goes to the alternator that is all, is there a third wire that has to be hooked up I believe it's for the ignition...if it is the starter are they easy to replace?

Uhm, I think the main wires on a Starter would be the, Main power (straight from battery), Cranking wire (wire that enganges the starter) and then maybe another wire for ignition.

My starters been recently 'clicking' but I've had loose wires, tightened them and now its fine ( i hope ).
So I'd check the wires on the starter before thinking it's the starter motor gone.. Tightening some nuts and whatont is cheaper then $90 odd bucks :P

As for replacing, I think it's a under car repair. I believe it just bolts to the engine.. That's all I know..

Try jumping it again and attach the negative jumper lead to the engine. This should eliminate an earthing problem.

Push it onto the road and call the RAA, or RACV or whoever it is where you live, let some other mug fix it.

You neighbours have probably done something to it if you purposely wake them all every morning at 4:30 with it. Pff.

Quite likely (although you have a coil not a coil pack). Try replacing the coil lead first and if that doesn't work replace the coil itself.

Ok so I've narrowed it down to my key and key barrel being dud so I'll purchase a new one this week some time and see if that's the case

I doubt its your coil or distributor if it wont turn over.

Have you tried hitting the 'unlock' button on your key head before you turn the key?
