    Default '96 VS - Power/econ button no go

    Hi,

    Bought the VS a few days ago and am slowly fixing up bits that need fixing. So far, oil drop and new oil filter, plus coolant replaces water and new thermostat. Temp has dropped markedly from over half way to just on a
    quarter of the temp gauge.

    One problem I cam across is that the Power/Econ button only turns the green power light on the dash, but
    doesn't kick down.

    Is this another corrosion/crud problem, or is it something else?

    Thanks for any advice.

    As you may know, all the POWER BUTTON does is bring the transmission shifts in a bit earlier.
    Not sure about the kick down thing...'spose it might within certain ranges...others will know.
    If you want to test it to see if it's working...go for a drive and take note of the speedo/revs when it changes gear.
    May help to get it up to 80 kmh.
    Mine behaves like this...
    Econ = Top gear @ 80 kmh
    Power = Top gear @ 75 kmh (or thereabouts)

    Hope this helps...soz if I'm stating the bleedin' obvious ; )

    Run415 is right. It just changes the shifting pattern.
    Power on it will shift later if flooring it. Econ shifts earlier.
    If ya want, turn it on while driving and you'll see the revs go up.

    I had a similar issue on my VT, turns out there was a pad? underneath that needed to be replaced. Not sure if it helps you mate but just a thought.
