Hi all,
First time poster, long time reader.
I would appreciate advice on a shuddering problem I'm having with my VS commodore.
While I have been driving for a while my car broke down a few days ago. I would accelerate and the revs would drop to around idle settings. Same result in neutral after I pulled over. It would idle fine but as soon as I put a bit of gas in, the rpm would increase a bit but then the shudder would appear and they would drop off again. After calling RACV and waiting for around 30 mins, the problem did not reappear so they couldn't do anything about it. After about another 30 mins off problem free driving it occurred again. In my opinion it was as if it was dropping a cylinder or more.
Welcome to the forum.
Sounds more electrical to me - try doing a fault code check: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
This will take 5 mins and may provide a clue. Then post back.

Hi I ran the fault code check instructions this morning.
Keep getting a 12 signal, three seconds, then another 12 signal, three seconds then another 12, three seconds then another 12, etc. which means System Check passed.
My brother reckons that it may be a one off issue due to the really hot weather, 42 degrees in Melbourne on the day it happened. Possibly related to the fuel pump/fuel lines.
My mechanic said that it could be a number of things, ranging from crank sensor to fuel pump. He said that I should wait til it happens again before I take action about it. I appreciated his honesty.
Hi mate its off topic but i am 99% they didnt make a 1994 vs it was vr from 93 to 95. Good luck with the problem btw and welcome to the forum cheers Travis.
Your mechanic sounds spot on - hope it turns out something simple.
