Default High idle when changing gears

    High guy's

my daughter has a VS 97 series III commodore ute
5 speed manual 3.8ltr and the thing revs it's tit's off between gear changes? so when changing gears it's doesn't return to idle unles you wait for revs to drop then change?

any ideas guy's? i suspect TPS (throttle position sensor)

I have cleaned IAC motor and throttle body.

Wouldn't be the 'power/econ' button on would it? With PWR on mine used to rev heaps before a gear change, but fine with it on econ.

I push the pedal to the floor, smoke them up and go.

no it idles normal in neutral and even if you rev it in neutral it seems to return to idle pretty quick, it's only when your driving and change gears it's reving like a mongrel! sounds like ya don't know how to drive and slipping the clutch?

Ahh nuu, I can't help then I was going to suggest the idle adjustment thing on the TB but if it idles fine it's not that..
    Hope you get it sorted

Similar thing happened to a mate and it was the speed sensor on the gearbox. Checked for error codes? Im betting it's that....

Things I can think of are, sticky throttle or cable, The TPS is stuffed or you have a vacuum leak...

If the VSS isn't working then the speedometer also won't be working. Does this problem happen all the time or only when the air conditioning is on (assuming the car has air conditioning)?
