i brought a 1995 vs commodore sometimes when i drive it, it will all of a sudden cut out with the power train warning light illuminated any ideas on what causes this? everytime after the car has cut out i will turn the ignition off then on again and turns over and it starts straight away without any delay, it is just a pain, i was in sydney last week and the car cut out when i was stopped at the traffic lights when i was in the middle lane so i couldnt get to the side of the road luckily it turned over and ran fine straight away, so i would like to get it fixed but would like to have more of an idea what could be wrong with it before i take it to the mechanic. Also sometimes when i go to drive it, turn the ignition on it wont turn over, so i take the key out push the unlock button on the remote then turn the ignition and it starts? Any ideas? thankyou.
I suggest the stalling engine is due to a faulty Crank Angle Sensor. With the engine not turning over, try pressing the button on the key before turning the key to start. A faulty inhibitor switch may also be the problem if it is an automatic. Move the gear stick from Park to Neutral and try to start it from there.
