vr 4hdd auto fault code 66+67 stuck in third????

hey guys ive got a vr with the standard 4hdd auto box which until today i havent driven in about six weeks and now im getting code 66 and 67 which is 3-2 shift solenoid fault and tcc fault??? wtf??? i understand whole concept of electric solenoid valves but was thinkin could it be the ecu controlling it that has the fault??? any info or knowledge would be much appreciated

It could be the ECU causing the problem, but its highly unlikely as its pretty rare for ECU's to stuff up. Id start by clearing the codes by removing the negative battery terminal for a minute or two. Then check all the wiring and their connectors in the auto transmission loom.. If the wiring and connectors are good and tight etc, also check the fuse number 12 under the dash. If everything shows to be ok,then drive the car to see if the codes come back,if they do,then its probably the auto itself that is on its way out. These transmissions can going into whats called limp home mode, which defaults the trans to using only drive and second gear, first gear can be selected manually and the overdrive 4th gear will not operate at all.This will also set a code to show what the fault(s) might be.. anyway, if theres no problem with the wiring or fuses etc and the codes return, then its most likey what the codes are telling you is the problem, TCC and shift solenoid problems.The shift solenoids are pretty easy to replace.
