Default Signs on flat remote battery?

Recently I've had to start the car by locking and unlocking the before it would crank. I've had the car for over 2 years now and never had to do this; It has only not started like this like 10 times, just needed to remove key and try again. but not this time.
I was thinking of getting a new key because mine case is starting to pry apart, key head is loose and screws wont tighten and the button is stuffed (and i got a replacement one)

So am I needing to get a new key or is it something else making this happen?

I push the pedal to the floor, smoke them up and go.

sounds like your key is a likely suspect. Does the remote work or not ? Thats 1 good indication the battery is dead.
Also you will find a thin piece of metal ( or 2 ) around the ignition key hole. They are key-readers and must make good contact with the little bump on the key body beside the blade. You can gently bend them out a little if you think they are not contacting. I think only 1 works at any time, just depends which way you insert the key thats why there are 2 on the ignition.

It works fine; Cant tell you if it works perfectly because button isnt fitted properly. but unlocks and locks just fine.
Yeh, I tried pushing the key in harder to get a better contact but no luck. Ill try bending them out a little. I have 2 yeah, Ive also tried putting key in backwards but still nothing; Gotta unlock/lock.
but ill try bending the contacts out and ill check out the plug on it aswell just to make sure. cheers
