Hey guys,
I have a weird question. Can spark plugs unloosen themselves to the point the engine misses and looses almost all mid to high range power? I ask this because a family member had this exact problem and it turns out the sparks plugs were extremely loose. I did not know that they could just unloosen themselves, its sounds kind of iffy to me. Can someone shed some light by either telling me it is possible and give me reasons why it happens, or tell me my suspicion is right and this cant just ''happen'' and give me reasons.
Thanks fallen1.
Spark plugs come loose if installed incorrectly, If you can not "feel" how tight they should be then I suggest you use a torque wrench to install them to the correct torque setting.
Ummmmmm, yep, there's a squish ring washer that catches out shit mechanics.
Found lots of loose plugs over the years.
If your paranoid about threading heads, its easy to leave them with the squish ring only partially compressed then when given a few heat cycles they collapse and instant loose plug.
My fix is to always torque plugs up twice. The first one sets the ring and the second one torques up perfectly. You will feel the difference.
Or you could just SPRAY LOCTITE EVERYWHERE.
I could believe this - 6 loose plugs allow the cylinder to suck in air which weakens the mixture and make it hard to fire and the engine misses.......never had it happen to me on a car but I've had lawnmowers and chainsaws that will not start unless the plug is tight and sealing good.
