    Default Auto transmission wont shift up from second...

    Hey guys,
    having some troubles with my vs.... i was driving home from my ladys house on monday and on the highway i noticed i was stuck in second.... so i drove in the left lane all the way home on the gateway for about 15mins looking like an idiot... i was wondering if anybody has an idea as to why my commo wont shift up from second??? first second and reverse are fine, but if i try and accelerate past second gear it revvs up like the gear is in Neutral but it's still in Drive..
    any help or suggestions would be great because im not sure if its a little problem or if its big like a new transmission or something! thanks alot.

    yeah my fluid levels are good, i tried shifting into third manually and whenever it sounds like its trying to shift up from second it just revvs out. and no i'll check codes tomorrow... just thought id see if this has happened to anyone before though.. arghh haha my only problem so far with this car hopefully it doesnt all begin from here

    well i ended up having to replace my trans in my vr because it got locked into 2nd but with mine rev was fried so maybe not your problem?

    Yeah check for codes, but it does not sound good...

    With any luck it will only be one of the shift solenoids

    yeah ive been reading about similar problems.. HOPEFULLY its only the solenoids thanks for the help!

    i was lucky. i picked up a wrecker that had a recon trans in it for 500. but my problem was water in my trans. the cooler in the radiator cracked and when the water got hot it send it into the trans.

    Rather easy job to replace, just need to be careful of the plastic type clips

    so 500 bucks but i did the work myself(pull both old and new outa each car and put recon in mine) and on my own it took me 3 weeks cos i didnt have all the tools i needed...stupid me

    alright. so i checked my error codes and it flashed back 12 meanings its ok !! haha what now

    when you checked cosed did it flash back 12 3 times? then 12 again? or did it flash 12, 12,12 then a cose?

    just flashing 12 onece dont mean it dont have any other codes must be 12 3 times then 12 again for it to be 12

    if that makes sence, alo disregard what i said if you already no this

    but for your problem sounds like trans is stuffed, whats the colour of the fluid? nice red or nice black?

    yeah mate definately flashed 12,12,12,12, and kept flashing 12.... the colour of my fluid is red... i checked when the car was level and after taking it for a 5min drive around the block in second........................................... haha so annoying. so i guess theres only one thing left to do and get it checked by a mechanic or transmission place right?

    I had the same thing with a VP Calais I had years ago. Adjusted the slack out of the accelerator cable and bingo good as new.

    Do I recall correctly that sometimes the check ball falls out of the B solenoid on a VS? Electrically it is still OK so it won't bring up a code.

    No throttle cable to the trans on a VS mate, not since VR series1 IIRC.
