    Default Auto to manual conversion

    Hi all,

Recently stacked my VP ute so am now shopping for another, I have a 1995 VS 5ltr auto ute lined up ready to purchase.

The VP i crashed has a 5 speed manual gear box, So i was curious to get some info on how much trouble/cost it will be to put my manual box in the VS.

The VS has a brand new auto transmission with a shift kit, Is it worth converting to the manual?(i have no experience or knowledge on shift kits)

It all depends on your drive style mate. Most people like the control of the rev range that a Manual gives a driver.

However i know that the gearbox in your VP wont go with your VS V8.
Depending on what stage a shift kit you have, changing to a manual wouldnt be worth the headache.

Another option if your adamant about having an Aussie 5l Manual is to see if a wreckers or private dealer will buy your Kitted Auto and buy a conversion kit.

From memory i believe they can go for up to 2-3k

    Cheers,
    Jake.

If my VP box wont fit i wont bother with the conversion, Only thought about doing it as i have the wreck sitting here in my yard, I'll just sell it now.

Thanks for a speedy reply jake.

These days the auto transmissions are so good I really don't see the point of going for a manual unless burnouts are important to you!

    One other question,

The ute im looking to buy (checking it out saturday)has airbags i believe, judging by the photos.

What are they like to drive with, My last ute was lowered with pedders and that was like a go cart on steroids.
