Default Chrome Dumpies for the VS

    Hey guys,

So in preperation for my rego inspection at the end of Feb (and because the rear muffler fell off months ago due to rust), I've decided my Calais needs a new exhaust.

I've sort of decided on a 2.5inch Lukey catback system, with twin chrome dumpies on the end. I'm leaning more towards twin 3 inch dumpies as it looks like these will fill in the bumper gap nicely, and from some pics I've seen, the 2.5 looks a little small for the gap.

I've only managed to find a couple of good pics of the tips on here and that's led me to lean more towards the twin 3 inch.

Can anyone post up some decent pics of both tip sizes on a VS and recommendations on which size would be best to go?

P.S If you have no idea what I'm on about - this is what style tip I'm after:

    Cheers

I still have yet to figure out dumpies. What is the point. Straight cut twin looks so much better.

The only advantage i can see if running dumps is the carbon blown downwards wont build up on the rear bar?
From my experience as well, tips in different shapes and sizes give of a different note and burble.

Each to their own, no real point of them I guess, I just reckon it'd suit the car nicely :P it's only a tip so can be changed in the future if I get sick of them aha

I read somewhere on here that dumpies will give the exhuast a deeper note.

Years ago when dumpers where the craze they were illegal. The exhaust stays low to the ground and the car behind picks it up.

Hey mate. Sorry these arent dumpers but this is what I got on mine. They fill the bumper cutout quite nicely and I reckon they look alright...

Agreed. Fill the gap nicely. Rolled tips should stay on old peoples cars.

I agree that straight tips are the best, especially on VT - VZ models, a twin 3" straight cut tip setup will look the best. Doubt it changes the tone though, or anything noticeable.

I saw a VS the other day with those double d things - please please please do not do this to a commodore. True?

I try not to take myself too seriously haha, and thanks heaps mate I'm pretty happy with how the cars looking =D

PS, sorry for the thread hijack :/

Dumpies can look alright on these but tbh I'm not a massive fan, but each to their own I guess. The photo I posted shows how 2.5" tips look, so obviously 3" would really fill the gap out. If thats what you want go for it

I have a VS ute with twin 3inch dumpies, it's not a sedan but if you want inspiration you can check my build thread.
I love the look of dumpies, especially on a ute, it breaks up the square shape of the tailgate...

Yeah I think I'm leaning more towards twin 3inch - I like the dumpies style cause you don't see them around alot (well, on anything besides a Commo... in my area anyway), twin 3 inch straight cut would look sick too I reckon.

Thanks for the help man, I've done a couple of hours of searching for pics to compare 3inch/2.5inch twins, after seeing your ute I'm pretty sure I'm convinced to go for the 3inch over 2.5 :P btw, did you ever end up fixing that rusty discolouration inside the tip?
