Hi
Me and my partner bought a VR we had to put a new motor in it and now it is really rough. Sometimes it starts and runs nice and smooth then other times it will run then die run then die and other times it will run rough then smooth then rough. We have looked over everything we can think of. Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Have you checked for error codes?
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
how do I do that?
Sounds like you could have a air leak somewhere. Were all the Vacuum hoses hooked up and to the correct inlets?
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
Hi
Just checked the codes and this is what I got but not sure how to fix them
Code 13 - Oxygen Sensor (O2) - No Signal
Code 33 - Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) high voltage
Code 48 - Crankshaft Reference Signal Missing
also checked all vacuum seals are proper
well for a start i think you need a new map sensor. have you checked that you have plugged everything back in?
I told him about the sensor and he now had the leads wrong hopefully it all works out soon i need a car
Clear these error codes by removing the negative battery terminal for a minute or two, then after driving the car for at least half an hour or so, recheck the codes again to see if any have returned. If they do return, you need to check the wiring and vacuum hose that goes to the MAP sensor. If this is all ok and connected etc, then replace the MAP sensor. You will also need to check the wiring and connectors going to the Crank Angle Sensor (CAS), and if the wiring is ok and the connectors are clean and tight, then replace the CAS as it can cause of all different sorts of problems when it gets old and starts to play up. And lastly, the oxygen sensor, check the wiring and connectors, and if ok, renew the oxygen sensor.
