Who knows if a vn/ vp trans will fit into a series 2 VS berlina ??
if not what other trans will fit in ? eg vs statesman ?
No. You can get a 6HDD, 7HDD and if you want a stronger box that needs a little work to make fit, 9HFD.

You need the specific transmission for your model Commodore - VN-VP will not fit VR or VS. Also a VR will not fit a VS. The correct way is to read the I.D. sticker on the transmission bell housing....if your VS is a '95 model it will read 5HDD or a '96 VS it will read 6HDD etc. A statesman trans will fit as it should have the same I.D. unless it has the V8 motor. Just make sure the sticker is the same and you cannot go wrong.

Im not as knowledgeable as other holden nutters but to my knowledge none will. The manual transmissions apparently changed somewhere in the VS lineup and the autos are different as well (from memory) though i dont no the specifics. I could very well be wrong, please correct me if i am. But some more details about which series both cars are and type of transmission will help us help you

cool cheers guysAlso what do u think the problem will be if my trans clunks hard into drive jolts the whole car forward, i have no first, and engine warning light is on ??
Start by getting a paper clip to read the codes and clunking is caused by 2 possible things 1 is low oil and 2 the bands for the gears may need adjusting even replacing in some circumstances
broken accumulator spring inside possibly? do a code check and see what errors it's throwing.
no band adjustment as such on these trans (there is some adjustment by changing a certain pin to 1 of 3 options)
there's 1 band and it's tension for adjustment is controlled by the pin in the 2/4 servo assembly, but there's only 3 sizes available and is decided upon measurements taken when the trans is being built.
no vp has a kickdown cable an it's model is 4l60
vr/vs don't have one as they're electronic an use the 4l60e
got error code 82, ( 1-2 shift solenoid "A" circuit)
.. does any1 know if this can be replaced ?
sure can, it's fairly simple.
get the right replacement solenoid for model trans, take the pan off (catch all the oil that's gonna come out), unplug the wiring from it, pop the retaining clip, pull out the solenoid... reverse order with new solenoid, while you're there it won't hurt to put a new filter in and refill with fresh fluid.
Can do it in car without removing the trans...
cool cheers man![]()
