Hi all,
I have a 2000 VS III V8 Manual Ute. She only has 67,000Klms and is immaculate, with the ONLY mods being a new 2 1/2 inch exhaust from the cat-back, and some SS alloys. When I am driving around normally if I bury the throttle in any gear the car feels like it has about 68kw instead of 168kw. If I roll on the throttle, or back off and then floor it again, it goes as hard as it should. It almost feels like when an AC solenoid clicks on and off but about ten times more impact on engine power. If I am on the freeway sitting on a steady 110km/h for more than 30 mins, the engine fault light comes on, however if I floor it in 5th (or drop it back to 3rd or 4th) and keep it pinned for about 5 seconds suddenly all the power returns, and then the engine light turns off. It also really noticably switches between these clear power changes on light throttle openings (such as flat freeway driving) at about 110-115 Km/h about every 10-15 seconds.
As to be expected, the guys at Suttons had no idea and gave me the old spiel of "we couldn't find the fault" (a 2 minute drive and any idiot would feel the problem), so i turn it over to my fellow Commodore lovers in the hope I'm not the only person that has had this problem!!
Cheers
Sam
You need to check the error codes to see whats causing the engine light to come on. Checking these codes is very easy and only takes a minute or two,and if you dont already know how to check them, have a read of the posts in the link below.
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
Sounds like it could be a fuel/ignition module issue. But i agree with brett. Check the codes as there is always a logged error code if the engine light has been on

If the error codes don't give you a clue, try changing the throttle position sensor.
